At the appointment ceremony on the afternoon of 6 April, 2016, Prof. Atilla Incecik, vice president of University of Strathclyde, was appointed as Advisory Professor of SJTU.

Prof. Decheng Wan, who hosted the ceremony, gave an introductory speech. He stressed out that as a globally renowned expert on ocean engineering, Prof. Atilla Incecik has dedicated himself to the research in hydrodynamics, system analytical tool design and model experiment for long years. His research achievements, including the dynamic load response, the prediction method of low-frequency movement of moored ships as well as the new concept of low-carbon maritime shipment, have been widely used in naval and ocean engineering and recognized as the new criteria in the design of the modern ocean structure.

Prof. Weigang Zhang, General Secretary of the NAOCE’s CPC committee, conferred Appointment Certificate and SJTU badge on Prof. Atilla Incecik, and congratulated him on joining the SJTU.

In response to the NAOCE’s appointment, Prof. Atilla Incecik said that it is a great honor for him to be appointed as Advisory Professor at the occasion of SJTU’s 120th anniversary. He hoped to make contribution to the development of the OCE and the SJTU with regard to the international exchange, student education and academic research henceforth.

Prof. Atilla Incecik gave an inspiring lecture on Design and Analysis of Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms for Deep Waters deep water platform at the end of the ceremony, which aroused the great enthusiasm from the audience.
