On Oct.10th 2016, Dr. Ioan Nistor, Dean of Engineering, Dr. Steve Perry, Dean of Science, and other two staff members from the University of Ottawa (uOttawa), Canada visited the School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (OCE, SJTU). Prof. WAN Decheng, Associate Dean of OCE, Prof. YANG Jian, Deputy Head of Department of Civil Engineering, and Dr. LIU Qingfeng met the delegates from uOttawa.

Prof. WAN Decheng extended his warmest welcome to the delegate and introduced the basic information of OCE in teaching, research, academic programs, experimental facilities, as well as the academic achievements in recent years. Prof. YANG Jian introduced the Civil Engineering program at OCE. While Dr. Ioan Nistor, on behalf of University of Ottawa, introduced the basic information of uOttawa and their key research directions in the areas of civil and ocean engineering. The two sides also discussed the potential collaborations in the fields of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, marine engineering, coastal engineering, etc. Both sides hope to make further development and progress in the academic exchanges and collaborations, including international research project application, joint faculty research, faculty exchange and visit, dual degree program, short-term student exchange and visit, undergraduate senior design projects, etc.
