On June 25th-30th, 2017, the 27th International Ocean and Polar Engineering Conference, ISOPE 2017, was held at Sanfrancisco, USA and more than 1080 experts and scholars from the universities, research organizations, enterprises and industries of over 55 countries and areas attended the conference.
Hyun Woo Jin, President of ISOPE announced that Professor WAN Decheng, School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China (NAOCE, SJTU) was elected as the new Board of Directors and also the Chairman of ISOPE International Hydrodynamics Committee, IHC.
ISOPE is a most well-known and influential international academic organization in the lines of Ocean Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Civil Engineering and Polar Engineering. ISOPE Board of Directors is the highest decision-making and governing body, made up of 7 to 9 experts and scholars with higher academic influences in the world.
ISOPE has 155 parallel sessions, on which 698 papers are reportedand discussed among the participants. 55 faculty and students from NAOCE, SJTU, made reports and discussions of 62 academic papers in the 39 parallel sessions in the name of the first completed unit, which has demonstrated the latest research achievements in the directions of Hydrodynamics, Ship Performance, Ocean Engineering, Deep Sea Engineering, Deep Sea Experimental Technology, Marine Structure Safety and Reliability, Submarine Pipeline and Riser Technology, Marine Platform Design and Construction Technology, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Vortex-induced Vibrations and Vortex-induced Motion, Sloshing in Liquid Tanks, Shore and Rock Soil, High Performance Material, Marine Renewable Energy and Fluid Dynamics Analysis, etc.
CHEN Xi, PhD supervised by Professor ZHU Renchuan, NAOCE, obtained the only 2017 Best Student Paper Award.
After the discussion of ISOPE Board of Directors, the 30th ISOPE will be held in Shanghai, China, in 2020.
