The first international Symposium of Healthy Building Asia 2017 (HB 2017) was held on Sep. 2nd - 5th, 2017 at Tai Wan, China. HB 2017 was themed as “Breaking the Asia-Pacific Countries’ barriers to Climate Adaptation, and Sustainable Development”, with the goal of promoting the communication and cooperation of indoor are quality and microenvironment in the fields of Indoor Environment Design, Architecture Design, Environment Review and Health, etc. More than 200 scholars from over 20 countries attended HB 2017.
XIONG Jing, Doc. of School of Ocean and Civil Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (OCE, SJTU), was invited to make a report. Her paper, Thermal comfort and skin temperature under different air temperatures in the elderly, obtained consistent high appraise by the judges, and she won the Best Student Paper Award issued by International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate, ISIAQ, the only Chinese University student selected.
XIONG Jing said that her research project is based on National Natural Science Foundation Key Project, charged by Professor LIAN Zhiwei, OCE, which is focused on exploring the elderly’s requirements of indoor environment and the impact on the architecture thermal environment caused by the age. The team led by Professor LIAN Zhiwei has undertaken the basic research of thermal comfort and hosted a number of national, provincial and other sorts of research projects, including 16 National Natural Science Foundation Projects (one Key Project) and published more than 300 papers in famous academic publications at home and abroad, 200 papers among which are indexed by SCI or EI.
